San Antonio – March 27, 2023
CDS Muery joined City of San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood, Deputy City Manager Maria Villagomez, Director of Public Works Razi Hosseini, and the Fire Station No. 24 crew in the opening of the new Fire Station No. 24 facility with an uncoupling ceremony!
A “hose uncoupling” is a fire services tradition similar to a ribbon cutting. Hooked hoses are separated (uncoupled), representing when a fire has been extinguished, drain the water and then put the hose back on the fire trucks.
The new station will replace the former No. 24 station that was built in 1956. The new 16,000 SF facility consists of three apparatus bays, one EMS bay, living areas such as kitchen, dining, exercise room, laundry room, offices, and dormitories. The site improvements also included concrete paved fire apparatus circulation and parking for 35 cars, driveways, fire lane, service areas, water, fire line and fire sprinkler, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, electrical and telecommunications services.
CDS Muery served as the civil engineer for the project.
